A good example ... The Korean War began in July of 1950 whenNorth Korea invaded South Korea.
A better example ... The 3 year long Korean War began in 1950 when communistNorth Korea invaded democratic and US supported South Korea, pulling the
United Nations into a peacekeeping effort in Asia. (ooooh, that's good - so good)
3 - Photos should help tell the story of the war, so find three photos that work ... and provide a descriptive caption, like the one on my example.

2-What's a war without maps? Insert two maps that help tell the story of the causes, events, and/or impact of the map (with a caption for each) 1 - You know historical quotes can bring old crusty things to like, so find one decent quote that helps add to the content of the Korean War (and provide some context for the quotes). For example ...
"The attack upon Korea makes it plain beyond all doubt that Communism has passed beyond the use of subversion to conquer independent nations and will now use armed invasion and war."- President Harry S Truman in his speech describing the military involvement of the US in Korea, without a declaration of war from Congress.

FACTS:
-Soviet troops occupied Korea above the 38th parallel(North Korea) and the US governed below that line (South Korea). Because of the Soviets, North Korea became communist.
-Northern Korean forces crossed the 38th parallel into South Korea- conflict following became known as the Korean War.
-16 nations provided soldiers for the UN force, but mostly US soldiers made up most of the force and did most fighting.
-General MacArthur pushed up past the 38th parallel toward Yalu river, but at this point, the Chinese(who were communists) joined the Soviets and came and helped push the UN back to South Korea.
-General MacArther wanted permission to blockade China and bomb them but Truman said that he could not. Truman feared that this would cause a bigger problem and bring the Soviets in.
-MacArthur spoke against Truman and wanted more support. Truman was made at MacArthur for this and fired him.
-The war dragged on and there was a new election for President. People were tired of the war and elected Eisenhower who promised to end it.(People wanted the war to be over)
- During talks with North Korea and China he agreed to compromise the end of the war but Eisenhower warned privately that he was ready to use nuclear weapons against China and cease-fire fighting ended in July 1953.
- Korea remained communist in the north and free in the south. People in the country experienced small change from before the war.
